Masters, new bikes in the spin studio, solid workout class schedule for afternoon people like me, water stations all work again, not a single broken elliptical or treadmill in sight, AMAZING!! Overall, this is one of the best Active level 2. San Diego area. I am very picky about gyms. Not because I am always there but just because I have had bad experiences before. However at this gym I have to say I am extremely happy to go to. It is always clean, the group classroom is pretty big, but most of all I met Scott C- -the best personal trainer ever. It was extremely important that I built muscle to keep the majority of the weight off. But also more importantly, to me anyways, I received a great education from Scott on how to safely and effectively work out. He encourages me all the time to meal prep and stay consistent with working out and eat right. Scott was able to get me to the gym and be happy there. I have grown to appreciate what I can do at the gym because of Scott. He encourages me to ask even the stupid questions and even when he doesn't have an answer he always comes back in the next session with answers he has looked up from reliable sources. With Scott we were able to get my body fat percentage down to a healthy range and I can honestly say I have never felt better or stronger in my entire life. I can't stress enough how amazing Scott is. At minimum if you're even just thinking about what a personal trainer could do for you, go have a consultation with him and he will be realistic with you about what he could help you with. It's honestly only because of Scott that I even still go to any 2.
Anyone Ever Work at 24 Hour Fitness?? Other locations I have been to are awful, but not this location- and definitely not Scott. Call him right now, schedule your trainer session, achieve those fitness goals in 2. They are why I began to even go to the gym. But Scott kept me there and got me doing efficient stuff. Shout out to Maridel and Rachel for being amazing U- Jam instructors! For a 2. 4 Hour fitness- Active, this place has everything you need to get the most benefit out of your membership. They have a variety of classes even U- Jam which is not common at other actives! Everyone's friendly here and there's a lot of foot traffic, so beware. But it's not to a point where you can't get your workout done. Another plus is that they have lockers for gym- goes that forget their lock! The major downside that I have encountered based on my few days here is the lack of ventilation in the big fitness studio. It always has an odor that I can't even describe (possibly sweat, dirty socks, and Onions?) haha who knows. But like I said, this place isn't bad and I've enjoyed it so far! I've had mixed experiences with 2. I had a mix up with my account and the manager there was so helpful correcting the mistake right away. They've made some changes in cleanliness and the staff is always so welcoming. I like this gym. It's never too crowded. It smells a bit weird here (musky? I like how they fix things right away. Unlike other 2. 4hours where the dumbbells are just so out of place that you have to walk around looking for its pair. Very respectful staff and regulars. I always frequent this gym. Yes it's an older gym as it's been around for many years. But really it's not about what it looks like. This place has every thing I need in a gym. Signed up four years ago and have lost almost 5. This place changed my life! Came in yesterday to use the gym on a free three day pass and didn't have any issues. I came in today and was told I couldn't use the facilities because of my zip code. Management should PROPERLY train all their associates. I knew 2. 4HR fitness had a bad reputation when it came to their workers. I will definitely not be coming back to any of their gyms and will let others know to cancel their memberships. I like this place. The gym is small but I always seem to find an area or machine to work out on even during peak hours. Parking can be a problem at times but they have a good amount of it for the size of the gym. The group classes here are fun. The only class I haven't liked as much is the cycling class because the room is so tiny and the last time I went they had 2 broken bikes (the time before that one was broken) so I don't know if they are not repairing them or replacing them or it had just happened. I really wish they offered more classes. I don't like that lately the schedule for group classes has not been showing the names of the instructors. This information is important because that is how I know what to expect since each instructor has their own style and the class is very different depending on who is teaching. I really wish they had a bigger area for doing a floor workout, the space is very limited when they have a class going on in the group room and the ignite classes going on. The staff downstairs is very friendly. I was able to get my husband a free day pass so he could check out the gym before buying a membership for him. Quitting this gym. After a few months, I've given it it's due time. I can never get in this place without it being over- crowded. There's no membership management and severe over- crowding. Will be looking for something less crowded, even if it means paying more. Never had a bad experience with the people or members of 2. I had to go to this 2. UTC had a sewer problem. First of all, you have to walk upstairs to get to the main area of the gym. Now I didn't see any elevator but I was looking into ADA regulations.. The cardio machines are outlined around the weights so as I get in my sweat, I get to watch the folks pick up some gains. It's like being an observer to a swole jungle. With the X- Class room right there with windows that allow you to see everything, I'm not sure I would want to be doing a down- ward dog for everyone to see. And oh my.. is that the spin room? I didn't know that was there either! Is the pool hidden on the roof? It seemed like every elliptical I went on was missing buttons, broken or made some weird sound every time I pedaled. Helpful and welcoming. Group. X room is nice, big, and spacious, but the equipment is.. But my research- fitness side of my is going . My problem is the attitude of those that are demeaning to others who are working out, talking about others' body image, and who have a lack of gym- etiquettes/consideration. Despite I would still workout with them, some of them look and/or feel faulty. I only been there during times when there wasn't a big crowd (like on weekdays in the evening), but the air still felt humid. Most people workout with people with similar goals, and if that goal is to get huge and/or cut/ripped, then you will find a lot of guys that are into that here (or you can find yourself a boyfriend here). I'm just not cool overhearing people snickering or gossiping about others' body- type or how they can't lift a certain amount. I would rather go to the PQ 2. UTC even though it is 4+ miles away from where I live. She is a badass instructor. And the Group. X room is freaken ridiculously nice. I was not able to work out at the Semper Fitness center, so I opted to going here. Although, the equipment can be updated. There a nice crossfit/multipurpose bar area, and the benches are old and the seats at the free weights section are all old and out of date. Giant glass window, people can totally look at people in there exercising. So much room in there, the classes I saw like body pump and yoga did not even fill up the whole room. Yeah totally cool that you guys workout, but there was a 'member' working out in flip flops, and then started squatting in BARE FEET.. C'mon for real? That is unsanitary, unsafe. Faucets are old, don't shut off properly and smells in the urinals. Come on 2. 5 Hour Fitness- It's not that expensive or difficult.. Decent gym to go to. Not bad, there are definitely better ones out there, but since this gym is closest to my home, this is where I've gone to the most. The people are overall pretty friendly, but like any other gym, you definitely get what you put into it! Update: Surprise!!! They told me my membership was cancelled but what do you know, they're still charging my credit card!! I found myself becoming more and more less motivated to work out and that was an unknown feeling to me since I value my fitness very much. I have never seen a more qualified person for this position. My daughter absolutely loves her and she does more than just sits and watches her. She interacts, does crafts, and plays with the kids. I feel comfortable leaving her then more than ever!!! Thank you Carol for being great at what you do! The customer service agent was very nice. My issue is with the company itself. Charging the full amount for the life of the contract when trying to cancel is pure evil. Not even cable companies do that. A few weeks in, the parking lot was torn to pieces and it now takes half of my workout time to find parking. A few months later, the basketball court was being repaired with no estimated time on when it would be up again. The only reason I go to the gym was to play basketball on my lunch break from work. Thank you for stealing my money with no remorse. Also, to the people who may have a financial hardship and have to quit the gym, they told me you are immediately sent to collections.
